A garden in the Hudson Valley

Projects

Bulb Donation Project & Fundraiser
Fall planting = Spring blooming, and there is no easier way to provide weeks of early season garden interest than by planting bulbs in autumn. Sourced from ADR Bulbs — one of the country's largest bulb dealers, located right here in the Hudson Valley — HVGA offers a hand-picked selection of our favorites for sale in September and October. As part of the Bulb Sale Fundraiser, HVGA offers free classes on gardening with spring blooming bulbs and donates bulbs to civic groups for public planting. For more info click here.

Winter Lecture Series
The ground may be frozen but a gardener's mind is fertile - take advantage of winter downtime with engaging and inspiring workshops and lectures. 2013's Winter Lecture Series presented six talented and knowledgeable Hudson Valley speakers at three different locations throughout the region.

Garden Fair
HVGA's main fundraising event - a one day celebration of gardening in the Hudson Valley featuring plant and garden vendors, lectures, free demonstrations and local garden exhibitors. Visit the Garden Fair website for more information.

Monthly E-Newsletter
Mailed to registered mailing list recipients during the first week of the month, the free HVGA monthly newsletter is a must read for anyone interested in local garden news. Features include interviews with local home gardeners and pros, personal essays, photo tours, event spotlight and information about area garden programs.

Promotional Support
HVGA can help promote your garden organization or business utilizing our numerous media outlets (Hudson Valley Garden Calendar, HVGA Facebook Page, Monthly E-newsletter) to reach gardeners of the Hudson Valley. All promotional efforts are FREE, as part of HVGA's mission to help grow and serve the local garden community. Email laura@hvga.org with event photos, Facebook announcements, newsletter submissions or any other questions regarding your garden related news.

Project Assistance
If your organization needs help developing or expanding a garden program - whether you require basic or specialized garden information, more volunteers or aid locating materials - HVGA is eager to assist. As a hub of local garden information and resources, HVGA can help facilitate new relationships that will help make your garden efforts a success.

Garden Outings
Garden Outings are informal plans for those interested in exploring the Hudson Valley's nursery and public garden treasures, and to provide plant-loving company for folks without a garden buddy to explore with. All are welcome. Meet us there or request help arranging a carpool. Outings take place approximately once a month during the garden season, on both weekends and weekdays.

Hudson Valley Garden Calendar
An invaluable online resource for local gardeners and event organizers alike since 2010, Hudson Valley Garden Calendar is a comprehensive listing of garden events in the Mid-Hudson Valley including nursery events, plants sales, volunteer meetings, garden club activities, garden tours, lectures, workshops and more.
